The 12th (we think) Annual Rossport Islands Symposium returns in 2012, bringing the best sea kayaking instructors and world class entertainment to the North Shore of Lake Superior.  Good food and great fun are also hallmarks of this event for sea kayakers of all levels.

Have a look at 2010's symposium highlights:

The Rossport Islands Symposium takes place at the quaint village of Rossport, 200 kilometres east of Thunder Bay and just off the Trans Canada Highway. The village features renowned accommodations and great camping at Rainbow Falls Provincial Park. But Rossport's biggest highlight is that it is located on the doorstep of Lake Superior and an archipelago of islands that offer scenic paddling for sea kayakers of all levels.

Rossport is a gateway to the Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area, a 10,000-square-kilometre reserve sprawling from the Sibley Peninsula to east of Terrace Bay. The wilderness islands, undeveloped mainland and open water is home to more than 20 species of rare or endangered wildlife, including woodland caribou, peregrine falcon and dozens of species of unique arctic plants. The options for multi-day sea kayaking are nearly endless. Simply put, the area is a sea kayaker's dream come true.
